In the EYFS, caring, supportive, well-trained and very knowledgeable key people have successfully created a calm and purposeful atmosphere.
Our Nursery, is part of Kingshott's Pre-Prep Department. Children can join our Nursery from the September following their third birthday. It is led by a Head of Nursery, who is supported by highly qualified staff. In following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum we promote teaching and learning to ensure our children are ‘school ready.’ Our children experience a wide range of activites and skills that provide the right foundation for future development as they progress through school and life.
All staff respond to each child’s individual emerging needs and interests, to support their growth and development through warm, positive interaction. Our aim is to ensure that children enjoy their nursery experience in the care of skillful and caring staff and make a confident and smooth transition to full time education in our Reception classes. We share and communicate the child’s learning experiences and developmental milestones when working in partnership with parents.
The Nursery itself is a bright, colourful environment with space for the children to learn in a variety of ways, through carefully planned adult-led and child-initiated activities. P.E. is delivered by specialist teachers. The Nursery has its own secure outdoor environment which enables children to continue their learning through active investigation and exploration. Children have the advantage of being able to use the extensive school grounds to widen their learning experiences within our safe and nurturing school community.
All Nursery children attend 5 morning sessions which includes lunch in the main school Dining Room. The children can then stay on for the afternoon sessions as requested.
For parents who require wraparound care, Nursery children can attend Breakfast Club before school from 7.30am, or After School Care which is available until 5.30pm with other children from the Pre-Prep.
"All pupils from the EYFS upwards sustain good levels of concentration during lessons and activities, making good use of the opportunities presented to them. Pupils work very well together." ISI 2013
