Year 3 on Safari
On Monday, Year 3 visited Ely Cathedral as part of their study of Christianity. Upon arrival the children were amazed at the enormity of the building. They looked carefully for the various animals carved into the stone and woodwork during their 'Animal Safari'. They also put all of their senses to the test in a Multi-sensory tour, during which they touched clerical clothing, tasted wine (grapes) and bread at the High Alter, looked all around at the stunning ceiling paintings and stained glass windows and smelt the strength of burning incense. The children also listened to Bible stories but rather than from a Bible, they looked at the stained glass windows, as people many years ago would have done.
