Physical Education
The school has a strong and successful sporting tradition which includes Soccer, Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Basketball, Netball, Lacrosse, Rounders, Tennis, Swimming, Cross-Country and Athletics. The pupils are taught the necessary skills by qualified and professional PE teachers from Reception through to Year 8.
The School facilities include two indoor gymnasiums, whilst outside the school is set in acres of beautiful grounds. There is a covered heated Swimming pool, Astroturf pitch, tarmac play areas used for netball ands tennis, fields that contain up to 5 full-size soccer / rugby pitches, 3 cricket pitches and nets and hockey pitch. The grounds are also used for cross-country and athletics (including high jump and long jump areas).
All children during their time at the school are given the opportunity to play many different sports and at some time represent their House team and also the School. There is very much a ‘SPORT FOR ALL’ ethos which gives children plenty of opportunity for participation.
Sport involves the development of physical competence enabling children to play efficiently and safely and to understand the importance of physical activity. Pupils at Kingshott are taught the qualities of fair play and to learn to cope with both success and failure. They are given the opportunity to work on their own and with others, promoting independence, co-operation and competition. The balanced PE and Games programme offered helps to develop a positive attitude to health, hygiene and fitness.
