New Deputy Head (Academic) joins Kingshott
We are delighted to welcome Kingshott’s new Deputy Head (Academic), Mrs Clare Garofalo.
Mrs Garofalo joins Kingshott with over 25 years educational experience and is delighted to move to Hitchin from London. Previously Mrs Garofalo led St Joseph's Primary in Rotherhithe, London – 11 years as Deputy Head and then six years as Headteacher. Prior to this she spent five years on the SLT and held the role of Head of Assessment at St John's Primary in Gravesend, Kent, along with working in both St Joseph's Convent Prep School and St Joseph's Primary Northfleet.
“We are delighted Mrs Garofalo is joining Kingshott and bringing with her many years’ experience of leading and developing an ‘Outstanding’ school,” says Head of Kingshott, Mr David Weston. “She has decades of knowledge, skills and experience developing academic excellence in schools. We are all looking forward to her further developing our curriculum to be creative and intellectually ambitious. As well as working with all of our teaching staff to encourage and enable our pupils to grow into independent and motivated learners.”
Mrs Garofalo graduated from the University of Warwick with a BA (QTS). She then completed the NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headteachers) with the National College for School Leaders.
“From my visit first visit to Kingshott, it was inspiring to see the wealth of opportunities on offer, from the creative arts to the vast array of sports facilities. Most impressive of all, however, were the courteous and confident children I had the great pleasure to meet. This is testament to the outstanding pastoral care that is clearly interwoven through the daily interactions taking place at Kingshott,” says Mrs Garofalo. “In my new role as Deputy Head (Academic) I am very much looking forward to working in partnership with the dedicated team we have here at Kingshott to continue to build on the considerable strengths and successes that are very much evident. I look forward to supporting all our teaching staff to spark curiosity; encourage inventiveness and freedom of expression, stimulating a love of life-long learning so that all Kingshott pupils are fully prepared for their Senior Schools.”
