Our Young Eco Leaders Celebrate Outstanding Environmental Achievements

We are incredibly proud of everything we have achieved as Kingshott's Eco-Committee and Eco-Warriors this year. Through our passion for the environment, commitment to sustainability and determination to make a difference, we have worked together to have a positive impact on both our school and the wider community.

Over the past year, we have led a range of environmental projects and initiatives, helping to educate and inspire our fellow pupils and staff to make more sustainable choices. We have worked hard to promote environmental responsibility across the school and are delighted with what we have accomplished together.

One of our biggest achievements has been expanding our environmental team into two dedicated groups: the Eco-Committee and Eco-Warriors. By dividing into smaller teams focused on specific environmental priorities, we have been able to work more effectively and make even greater progress towards our goals. Our teamwork, organisation and enthusiasm have helped us drive meaningful change across the school.

We were especially proud to plant 53 trees, which will help improve air quality, support biodiversity and create a greener environment for future generations of pupils to enjoy.

Another project we loved was transforming old school ties and kilts into handmade hair scrunchies and bows. As well as giving these materials a new purpose, the funds raised helped contribute to the creation of our new school pond. It was a great way to reduce waste while encouraging others to think about reusing and recycling items that might otherwise end up in landfill.

The school pond has quickly become one of our favourite additions to the grounds. Not only does it provide an important habitat for local wildlife, but it also offers valuable opportunities for us to learn more about nature, ecosystems and conservation.

We have also been excited to support the school's efforts to grow vegetables for use in school lunches. Producing our own food helps reduce food miles and lowers the school's carbon footprint while providing fresh, healthy produce for the community. Alongside the school's no-packed-lunch approach, this initiative helps reduce waste and minimise the use of single-use plastics.

It has been incredibly rewarding to see the difference our projects have made, and we are already looking ahead to what we can achieve next. One idea we are exploring is the creation of a living wall, which would further enhance our green spaces while helping to naturally cool the environment.

We are proud of how much we have accomplished this year and grateful for the support of the entire school community. We look forward to continuing our environmental journey and taking on even more exciting projects in the year ahead.
