Year 9 Careers Week: Masterclass with Architect Marissa Worcester
An established Hitchin-based practice specialising in architecture, structural engineering and interior design (worcesterlloyd.com) delivered an engaging and highly valuable masterclass to Year 9 pupils. The session offered strong insight into the architectural profession, combining theory with practical application.
Pupils took part in an interactive workshop exploring key principles such as scale drawing, access, health and safety, utilities, parking and structural basics. This demonstrated the complexity of architectural design.
They were tasked with designing a social space for a Year 11 prom at Kingshott School, developing a theme and presenting a professional pitch, supported by visual materials and 3D models.
Beyond design, pupils created a full event identity, including a logo, posters, tickets and a short advertisement, highlighting the importance of communication and branding.
This collaboration brought architecture to life, showcasing its creative and technical demands, including sustainability and regulation.
We are grateful to Marissa Worcester for inspiring pupils and providing a memorable learning experience.
