Why Kingshott?

Our Ethos

Education works best when children feel happy, secure and known. Kingshott offers a co‑educational experience for pupils aged 3–16 where happiness, wellbeing and pastoral care confidently underpins everything. We believe children make the greatest progress when they feel secure to be curious and supported enough to be ambitious. This is an academically rigorous school, but not a narrow one. Exceptional teaching ensures every child is stretched without being rushed, challenged without being pressured, and encouraged to think for themselves. Learning here is purposeful, engaging and designed to last longer than exams.

Exceptional Opportunities, Inspiring Futures

Set within acres of Hertfordshire countryside, Kingshott gives children the space, both literal and intellectual to grow. Outstanding facilities, including modern science laboratories, a state‑of‑the‑art 3D Design Studio and bright, spacious learning environments, support curiosity, creativity and confidence. These are not just impressive buildings; they are places where ideas are tested, explored and turned into understanding.

Beyond the classroom, pupils enjoy a rich and varied school life. An extensive co‑curricular programme, from sport and music to drama, clubs and enrichment activities, broadens horizons, builds character and allows children to discover talents they didn’t yet know they had.

As part of the Mill Hill Education Group, Kingshott benefits from shared expertise, collaboration and a clear educational ethos. This strengthens teaching, enhances pupil support and places Kingshott within a forward‑thinking family of schools offering both continuity and opportunity as children move confidently into the next stage of their education. In short, Kingshott is a school that understands progress is about more than outcomes.

It’s about growing capable, curious and resilient young people who are ready for what comes next.

As soon as we walked into Kingshott, we knew it was where we wanted our children to be. From the very start, we loved the nurturing, kind and caring environment. While the standard of education is, of course, important and a high priority, the children’s happiness and wellbeing are second to none. When we were looking at potential schools, I remember reading a Kingshott parent quote: ‘No school is perfect, but Kingshott comes close’ — and I couldn’t agree more. Having three very different children, it amazes me how one school can cater so individually for each of their needs, abilities and dreams. My son has a passion for the performing arts, and the drama department has helped him develop his skills and supported him throughout his West End debut. One of his favourite memories from his contract was his year group coming to watch him perform. It was so lovely to see how proud his teachers and peers were, shown through the support they gave him.

The pastoral care is simply outstanding. Having a child who is extremely anxious and shy, I think she would have been overlooked in most schools — but not at Kingshott. The pastoral team has ensured that all of her teachers are aware of her support needs, and she is now flourishing. I love how they encourage her to try new things and give them a go without feeling overwhelmed. Mrs Burrows is one of the most amazing people I have ever met; she has a brilliant understanding of children who may need extra support coming into school. We are so pleased with the children’s education, development and personal growth throughout their time at Kingshott, but what I love most is how much they enjoy being at school.
