Where Every Day Begins with Confidence
The Early Years day at Kingshott is carefully structured to provide a nurturing, stimulating and flexible start to school life. The school offers wraparound care from 07:30, with a Breakfast Club providing a calm, sociable beginning to the day with a healthy meal shared together. Pupils then move into their classroom routines, where the core school day blends adult-led teaching with child-initiated learning in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, ensuring children become confident, curious and ‘school ready ’. Throughout the morning, children take part in a balance of literacy, numeracy and topic-based activities, alongside continuous provision indoors and outdoors.
From Playful Exploration to Purposeful Learning
Mid-morning, pupils benefit from a snack break, with a variety of nutritious options available to sustain their energy. The EYFS timetable prioritises learning through play, with access to specialist teaching in areas such as PE, drama and cultural studies, alongside structured sessions that develop early reading, writing and mathematical understanding. The environment and daily routine are designed to support personal, social and emotional development, as well as physical and creative growth.
Lunch forms an important part of the day, with all meals freshly prepared on site and offering a hot main option, vegetarian alternatives, salad bar and desserts. The afternoon continues with a mix of guided learning and exploratory play, often incorporating outdoor learning within the school’s extensive grounds. The formal day then transitions into optional after-school provision, including supervised care and age-appropriate clubs.
Wraparound care continues until 18:00, with opportunities for quiet play, relaxation and a light tea around 16:00.
Junior School (Years 1–6)
Challenging Minds, Nurturing Potential
The Junior School day at Kingshott is busy, structured and academically ambitious, whilst maintaining a supportive and inclusive environment. Pupils can arrive from 07:30 for Breakfast Club, ensuring flexibility for families and a settled start to the day. Lessons typically begin in the morning with core subjects such as English, mathematics and science, supported by smaller class sizes that allow for high levels of individual attention. The curriculum is broad and balanced, developing knowledge and understanding across subjects while fostering independence and confidence.
As the morning progresses, pupils also engage in specialist lessons including PE, music, drama, cultural studies and languages. We teach subjects as distinct disciplines, enabling pupils to develop strong subject knowledge and skills, while making meaningful connections across the curriculum where appropriate. Enrichment opportunities are embedded into the school day, and pupils are encouraged to participate in activities such as the Junior Maths Challenge or LAMDA, which extend learning beyond the classroom. A mid-morning snack break supports concentration and wellbeing, reflecting the school’s focus on healthy routines.
A School Day That Goes Further
Lunch is a sociable experience with a wide selection of freshly prepared meals, catering for different tastes and dietary requirements. Afternoon lessons continue the academic programme alongside creative, physical and collaborative learning opportunities. At the end of the school day, pupils can take part in an extensive programme of clubs and co-curricular activities, ranging from sport and music to drama and academic enrichment. For those needing extended provision, supervised homework sessions are available for older Junior pupils, followed by After School Care until 18:00, including a light tea served at approximately 16:00.
From Year 3+ supervised ‘Prep’ homework sessions until 18:00 are included in the school fees.
Senior School (Years 7–9 and GCSE pathway)
Where Ambition Meets Opportunity
In the Senior School, the day becomes increasingly structured around subject-specialist teaching and academic preparation for future study. Pupils may also access Breakfast Club from 19:30 to begin the day in a focused and relaxed manner. The timetable typically consists of a sequence of lessons across a broad curriculum including English, mathematics, sciences, humanities, languages, creative arts and sport. The curriculum is designed to challenge all pupils and promote excellence, while supporting individual strengths and interests.
Throughout the morning, pupils move between subject classrooms, benefiting from specialist facilities and teaching expertise. The school emphasises both academic rigour and personal development, integrating PSHCE, co-curricular opportunities and leadership experiences into the daily routine. Break times, including a mid-morning snack, provide opportunities for social interaction and relaxation within a structured day.
Encouraging Independence Beyond the Timetable
Lunch is centrally organised, with high-quality meals prepared on-site, supporting pupils’ wellbeing and readiness for afternoon learning. The afternoon programme includes further subject lessons, physical education and enrichment activities.
After the formal school day, Senior pupils have access to a wide range of clubs, sports teams and performing arts opportunities, alongside structured ‘Prep’ homework sessions to reinforce independent study habits. Wraparound provision remains available until 18:00, with supervised spaces for study or relaxation and a light tea provided, ensuring a flexible and supportive end to the school day for families.

Exceptional Care from Start to Finish
Working parents often find it hard to juggle work and the school day. To help, Kingshott offers wraparound care from 07:30 and until 18:00.
- Breakfast Club
Pupils can enjoy a relaxed, sociable start with a healthy breakfast in the dining room. Sessions are led by our qualified staff, who know each child well and provide a supportive start to the day. - After-school cover and care
Families with siblings finishing at different times can use our free ‘Sibling Supervision’ service until 16:00 (available on an ad hoc basis or by termly booking). - Pupils may join a range of clubs, while those in Year 3 and above can attend supervised ‘Prep’ sessions for homework. ‘Prep’ is included in the school fees, as is a light, healthy snack provided during the session.
After school care runs until 18:00, with outdoor play, games, or quiet time. It is led by our qualified staff.
A light tea is provided for Nursery-Year 2 children at around 16:00. This includes sandwiches with varied fillings, homemade bakes and fresh fruit.
