Admissions FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
When can my child join Kingshott School?
-
Nursery: the term after your child turns three (3+).
-
Reception: in the September following your child’s fourth birthday (4+).
-
Senior School: into Year 7 (11+), Year 8 (12+), or Year 9 (13+).
Most children join at the start of a new academic year, but admissions are possible throughout the year, subject to assessment and the availability of a place. Priority is given to applicants with siblings currently attending the School.
How do I know that Kingshott is the right school for my child?
We encourage families to visit as many times as needed to gain a full sense of the School. Experiencing Kingshott during a normal school day, as well as attending one of our Open Events, will help you decide whether the School is the right fit for your child.
Who can apply to Kingshott School?
Kingshott is a co-educational school and welcomes pupils regardless of gender, race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, or disability.
We admit children across a broad range of academic abilities. Consideration is given to whether a child is likely to thrive with our curriculum and within our School environment. Places are offered subject to our assessment criteria, when we are confident that we can meet the individual needs of each applicant while maintaining a balanced and supportive year group.
My child has additional needs – can we apply for a place?
If your child has difficulties with aspects of their learning, requires additional support, or has a specific learning disability, it is important to disclose this early in the admissions process.
Please provide copies of recent specialist reports, such as those from an educational psychologist, to help the School make a preliminary assessment of whether we can meet your child’s needs. Additional evidence may be requested during the application process to ensure the School can appropriately support your child.
Does Kingshott offer Scholarships or Bursaries?
Kingshott does not currently offer Bursaries to new families. Our bursary provision is focused on providing temporary support during times of financial hardship for current parents.
We do offer Scholarships to students joining Year 7 and Year 9. Scholarships provide opportunities for extension and enrichment activities but do not offer a reduction in fees. Students are encouraged to apply for Scholarships at the point of entry to Years 7 or 9. Further details can be found on our website and in the Kingshott Scholars brochure.
