Journey to Joining

Kingshott is a warm, welcoming community. We know choosing and joining a new school can feel daunting for children and parents. We’re proud to support families in selecting the right school and guide them through their journey to Kingshott.

Below is our step-by-step guide for prospective families. Further details on assessments and Admissions FAQs are in our Key Information booklet at the bottom of this page.

1. Find out more about Kingshott
Discover what makes Kingshott special. Read our prospectus, explore the latest news, or call for an informal chat.
Contact Mrs Payne, Admissions Manager, on 01462 432009 or email admissions@kingshottschool.com

2. Come and visit us
We encourage you to visit Kingshott. Book a personal tour, join an Open Event, or attend a Kingshott Totts session (perfect for Nursery or Reception enquiries). Families may visit as often as they wish to experience life at Kingshott and see why we could be the ideal choice for your child’s education.

3. Register your child
To join Kingshott, complete our Registration Form. A non-refundable fee applies: £100 for Nursery and £120 for Reception and above (inclusive of VAT). Registration confirms interest, subject to place availability. Register here

For Years 1–6, or mid-year entry to Reception or Year 7, please contact us first to confirm availability and discuss your child’s position on the waiting list. We recommend early registration, but understand circumstances such as relocation may require a quicker transition.

4. Offering your child a place
Children may join Kingshott year-round, subject to age and place availability. Nursery offers are made as children approach their third birthday, with spaces allocated throughout the year. Reception entrants and parents attend an informal ‘Getting to Know You’ session; offers are usually made in December for September entry, though timings can vary. Senior School applicants (Years 7–9) attend an Assessment Morning in January; later assessments may be arranged if spaces remain.

We offer a Year 6 Deferred Entry Pathway for families securing a 13+ place. Details and Assessment Morning dates are in our Information Booklet below.

Children joining other year groups (space permitting) from Year 1 upwards are considered against our assessment criteria. Offers are made when we can meet each child’s needs while maintaining year group balance.

5. Accepting a place
To accept a place, complete our Acceptance Form and pay a £500 deposit, deducted from your final account when your child leaves. If your child does not join, the deposit is non-refundable. Once accepted, your family will be invited to tailored Joining Events and activities to ensure a smooth, happy transition.

At any stage in your Journey to Joining Kingshott School, Mrs Payne will be delighted to assist you.
