Drama at Kingshott

Drama is astonishingly good at Kingshott with all children, whether they are natural performers or not, having the opportunity to take part in drama and develop their communication skills.
We were delighted that our ambitious and inclusive approach to the Creative Arts was recognised this year when we were shortlisted for the Independent School of the Year Award for Performing Arts.

There are numerous strands to our Drama provision:
- All pupils from Year 1 upwards benefit from specialist lessons as part of their timetable.
- All pupils also have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of productions, from our annual Nativity to large, West End–rivalling shows. In 2024, the whole school performed Matilda, and we are very excited to be introducing both junior and senior productions moving forward, with our senior performance of Macbeth taking place in February. Previous productions have included A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Oliver!, Peter Pan, and The Lion King.
- Our long-running LAMDA programme which offers both individual and group examinations is enjoyed by pupils from Year 4 upwards. Over the past seven years, more than 1,000 LAMDA exams have been taken, with 70% of candidates achieving Distinction.
- Pupils are encouraged to take part in drama clubs and activities, and there are regular trips to see theatre productions in London. We also welcome West End professionals and guest practitioners who run workshops and help pupils prepare for performances.
