The European Day of Languages

“Parents are in charge!”

On Tuesday 25th September, or should we say Martes el veinticinco de Septiembre, in the build up to European Language Day, a number of our parents came in to school to offer workshops in a whole host of different languages. All children from Years 3 to 8 took part in a minimum of two language activities:

- Dog commands: Madame Mulvaney (et Ruby, sa chienne)

- Japanese numbers: Madame Roman

- Spanish sports: Madame Kiernan

- Facts about Chile: Señora Soulsby

- Argentina and football: Señora Chelache

- Argentina/South America vs Spain: Señora Chelache y Señor Sanchez

- Welsh alphabet: Mr Phillips

- French Islands: Monsieur et Madame Boussac

- The world of space: Madame Datsira

Wednesday the 26th September saw us celebrate European Language Day with a special assembly which included a house quiz. We were then treated to an amazing European lunch with a whole variety of different dishes.

Both days were a real success and all the children seemed to genuinely enjoyed the activities! Huge thanks to both our parent community for participating and our amazing kitchen team for preparing a lovely lunch. Merci et à l`année prochaine! Arigato, Diolch, Gracias, Shokren…
