Years 1 and 2

This offers a structured and caring environment where children thrive in a warm and happy atmosphere, while being given opportunities to develop independence, self-confidence, self-discipline and self-esteem.

The children are taught by qualified and experienced teachers, supported by highly trained Learning Support Assistants. They study English and maths alongside art, science, history and geography. Specialist teachers further enhance learning in Years 1 and 2, teaching each class in Performing Arts, PE and French.

Technology is used confidently across the curriculum, with a range of hardware and software employed to achieve specific learning outcomes. From Year 2, children also have the opportunity to learn the recorder or other musical instruments.

The curriculum is enhanced with trips and workshops linked to the topics being studied. As well as the annual Harvest, Nativity and school productions, parents are also invited to an assembly where their child will share their learning.

Parents are kept informed of their child’s progress through parent consultations, as well as termly behaviour and attainment grades, and end-of-year reports. Our end of Key Stage 1 results are excellent and exceed national averages.

Children also have the opportunity to take part in a variety of extra-curricular activities, which may include ballet, tap, multi-sports, tennis, football, Spanish, storytelling and musical theatre.
