GCSE

“For over 90 years, Kingshott has inspired and supported children to achieve the very best start to their educational journey,” says Headmaster David Weston. “Throughout our history, we have evolved with purpose — always placing our pupils’ interests at the heart of every decision. From becoming co-educational 40 years ago to launching an ambitious building development 20 years ago, Kingshott has never stood still. Today, we are proud to offer an exceptional all-through education culminating in GCSEs, ensuring our pupils benefit from continuity, care and academic excellence within a thriving, forward-thinking community.”

Kingshott continues to grow and develop as we expand our Senior School provision. With the introduction of Year 10, we are now delivering GCSE courses for the first time. As an academic school with a strong pastoral foundation, we remain committed to ensuring that every student makes the greatest possible progress throughout their educational journey.

Our first Year 11 cohort will take their GCSE examinations in Summer 2027, marking an exciting milestone in the school’s continued growth. Current Kingshott pupils progress seamlessly into the Senior School, ensuring continuity in their education, while new students from Hitchin and the surrounding counties are warmly welcomed following successful completion of our admissions process.

Our values, and the excellence of our education—both academically and pastorally—remain at the heart of all we do. We continue to support and challenge students, from age 3 through to 16, enabling them to achieve their full potential at every stage of their school life, culminating in their GCSEs.

Our spacious campus and first-class facilities provide age-appropriate spaces that foster growth and progression as students advance through the school. Recent developments include new Science laboratories, a Study Centre, and a 3D Design Studio, all of which enhance learning and prepare students for the rigour of their GCSE studies.

All of our Senior School teachers have recent and relevant experience in GCSE and A Level teaching, ensuring that students benefit from subject specialists who understand the demands of public examinations and the pathways beyond them. This depth of expertise, combined with Kingshott’s nurturing ethos, enables us to provide the very best academic and personal support for every learner.

Alongside a broad range of GCSE subjects, we continue to expand our enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities, encouraging students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and engage fully in school life.

We warmly invite families who would like to learn more about our GCSE provision or who are interested in joining Kingshott Senior School—either now or in future years—to visit us and experience first-hand the exciting developments taking place.
