Year 5 go back in history!
On Tuesday Year 5 had the opportunity to visit the wonderful British Schools Museum in Hitchin in support of their topic on the Victorians. Whilst there, the children dressed up in Victorian costumes and ‘enjoyed’ a Victorian style lesson of the 3 R’s, reading, writing (on a slate and with a traditional ink pen), and arithmetic (with the challenge of pounds, shillings and farthings!). In addition to their school lesson they explored the fascinating Headmaster's house filled with Victorian treasures and artefacts. A great time was had by all and lovely to see Mrs Wearmouth again!
