Kingshott at the IAPS Football Finals!

For the first time in Kingshott history the Colts A football team reached the Finals of the IAPS football competition. They had won their regional round where there were 20 teams competing and had not lost a game. However, we knew that moving onto the Finals would be a much stiffer test.

The Finals were held at Millfield School, in Dorset and the decision was taken to stay down in the area the night before, to make the journey easier on the morning of the Finals. This was a great idea as it brought the group (along with parents) very close together prior to the football the following day.

The Finals were the top 22 teams in the country and were a conclusion of 8 regional events. The boys were the only team to not lose a match in normal time! However, this did not tell the full story….

They qualified 4th in their group, having drawn every game. This put them into the ‘Plate’ competition. They managed to win the quarter finals on penalties, which put them into the semi-finals of the plate. Sadly, they lost this one on penalties. However, not deterred by this they saved their best game for last and beat Millfield Prep in the 3rd/4th playoff!

Overall this day was a resounding success and the boys were superb all day. They managed to finish 11th out of the whole country and thoroughly deserve all the praise they have received! A big thank you also to the parents who took the weekend off to come and help and bring their boys to the event. Your support is always vital and definitely appreciated by myself and the boys.
