Year 2 trip to Knebworth House

On Tuesday 14th June Year 2 were transported back in time to Tudor England as we visited the spectacular Knebworth House. We were greeted by our guides Lady Julia, Lord Mark and Lady Sarah. We revised our knowledge of Tudors and created a human timeline. Then we split into two groups and had an interesting tour of the house, visiting many historic rooms. We learnt about musical instruments and even performed a 'Pavanne' (Tudor Dance). The children tried their hand at calligraphy which proved much trickier than our normal handwriting. The armoury was extremely exciting. We had a lot of fun dressing up in lots of different Tudor clothes in the 'Queen Elizabeth Room'.

Our tour concluded in the main hall where we witnessed a knighting ceremony of Sir Edward by Queen Elizabeth I. It was a fascinating morning and the children learnt a huge amount. The afternoon was full of lots of fun at the adventure playground, where the children enjoyed the big slides, fort and playground equipment. The children had a wonderful day and showed exemplary behaviour throughout, we were very proud of them.
