Year 4 Go Greek!

On Friday 6th November, the Year 4 children spent the day as Ancient Greeks!  There were some fabulous costumes, and the children really got into the spirit of the day.  They played some of the games that Greek children would have played 3000 years ago, and studied ancient architecture, producing some lovely observational drawing of Greek columns.  At breaktime, our wonderful kitchen department provided a Greek snack of pitta bread, tzatziki, olives and feta, which was very well received!  In their PE lesson, the children stayed in costume, and played games divided into teams to represent different Greek groups. They then learned about Ancient Greek theatre, and how masks were used to show the actors’ emotions. They designed their own masks that might have been used in a production of ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’. We were very proud of the enthusiasm they showed for all the activities.
