A wonderful Harvest Festival, followed by a Food Bank delivery

Kingshott School celebrated Harvest Festival with a wonderful assembly full of pupils, parents and staff. There were a variety of talks, readings and performances that were enjoyed by everyone. These included:

  • The Reverend Ian Todd who gave an interactive talk about the meaning of Harvest, along with Kingshott's Senior Boy and Senior Girl, William and Florence, who read the parable of the sower.
  • Our Reception class who performed the poem, 'Five Little Acorns'. It was lovely for everyone to see how our youngest pupils, who have only started school this term, have already settled in and are gaining their voices! Years One and Two also performed a wonderful rendition of 'Autumn Leaves'
  • Pre-Prep children sang 'Cauliflowers Fluffy', Years 3-8 sang 'The Harvest Samba', and the Kingshott Junior Singers sang 'Food'. All showcased the quality of Music at Kingshott, along with how much fun the children have developing their voices and musicality.
  • The Headmaster, Mr Weston, who gave an insightful talk about how lucky we all are to have enough food to eat and talked about his time in northern Ghana, where a box of cornflakes cost almost a week’s wages.

Ben, Kingshott's Head of Eco, gave a reading about Food Banks and we are delighted that £240 was raised in the retiring collection to go to this very good cause.  Members of the Eco Committee were then able to take all of the donations, from our families and staff, to our local Food Bank.

"Thank you all for your incredibly generous donations," concludes Mr Weston. "I know they will be very gratefully received by the local Food Bank."
