Musical week

4R, 4S and 4G each gave a performance to their parents, of a Medieval Music Concert resulting from classwork. The children played their own instruments, as well well as glockenspiels and all children sang and recited lines to the audience. The music included a song for the Knight and Lady of the castle as well as a’ Basse Danse’ which was in four parts; no mean feat for nine year olds! A scene from a medieval kitchen was re- enacted, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. It was wonderful to be able to use the new music room for these performances.
Later in the week eleven children gave a concert on the school’s treehouse. The performers, all pupils of Miss Crispe, played mini bassoons, clarinets or saxophones. Each played a solo and some clarinetists played ‘This Old Man’ as an Ensemble piece. The audience was made up of children from Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 who were enthralled by the atmosphere and the music wafting towards them from the trees through a gentle breeze! Luckily the sun shone.
