Kingshott's got TalentMeet Coco the Dog - one of the star contestants from our virtual event "Kingshott’s Got Talent!" See below for more information on our past and upcoming events.

THE COMMITTEE:

The KA (Kingshott Association) is a flourishing Parents Association, which is open to all Kingshott parents. The day to day running of the Association is in the hands of a committee which is elected at our Annual General Meeting held in the first half of each Autumn Term. The KA is a member of the "PTA Organisation" which is a national charity supporting Parent Associations. We use their current constitution to govern our group; we are also a registered charity.

At present, the committee is being led by

Chair, Patti Rio Green,

Treasurer, Nipun Gupta,

Secretary, Sarah Banks.

The KA exists to develop relationships between staff, parents and children of the school by organising events throughout the school year. Any additional funds raised from these events are then used to assist in the provision of facilities or items for education at the school, as the committee, in agreement with the school, may determine. The termly subs paid also help support these events.

PAST EVENTS:

The last two academic years have been difficult for all schools, due to Covid-19 restrictions, so the KA has had to adapt and create several new events which are keeping in-line with changing government guidelines. For the Autumn Term we had a great time organising and producing two brand new events:

Kingshott’s Got Talent! A virtual talent show for the whole school community. This was a great success with over 90 videos submitted by children. We held a “viewing evening” just before Christmas, where everyone could vote for their favourite acts, and it really was a tough choice! A great night had by all.

Xmas Party in a Box: Another great suggestion from a member of the KA was to provide each class with their own “Xmas Party in a Box”. We adapted these for each year, with the older children even getting to take part in their own Escape Room activity. The fun included piñata’s, Xmas quizzes, plenty of games and of course some festive goodies to take home at the end of the party!

Hopefully at some point in the near future we can look forward to getting back to our traditional events, but until then …

WHAT CAN WE LOOK FORWARD TO?

Art Competition – Entries submitted by the 7th March

Something for the children! During lockdown we have all been honing our creative skills and looking for alternative things for the children to do away from screens. As part of this we created the KA Art Competition.

The theme for the competition is “Life After Lockdown”. This can be interpreted in any way that children want and through any medium; be that painting, sculpture or even lego creations!

Pictures of the amazing art can be found here.

The winners will be announced in assembly by Mr Weston and Mrs Barrett next term.

Virtual Family Quiz Night – 12th March

A Kingshott favourite with a twist. This will be a chance for the whole family to be involved and a way for us all to get together. Get ready for some unusual questions that Google just won’t be able to answer! This event will be hosted by our very own Mr Weston and Mrs Payne!

OUR PROJECTS:

As you can imagine, fundraising has unfortunately been put on hold while we try to create some events that the whole school can participate in remotely.

Our most recent project, which we are very proud of is …

The Nature Hangout

This was an exciting new project to create an eco garden in the school grounds - click to open the Eco Garden page. The KA donated the funds for this project and the main bulk of the groundbreaking work was done by our very own Mr Comerford and his ECO Committee. It was an amazing surprise to come back to the school, after the children had been at home during the first lockdown, and see all the hard work that had taken place. What a transformation!

We also contribute each year to Enrichment week for the children, as well as paying to provide lifeguards for the school pool so it is available over the summer holidays.

The KA is managed entirely by parent volunteers, with meetings attended by the Headmaster, teachers and parents.

The KA is always looking for new and existing parents to join or come forward with ideas for events and fundraising, so please do get in touch if you are interested.
