Our Inspection Reports

November 2023:
We are delighted to have ‘passed’ our ‘material change inspection’, undertaken by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).  This inspection takes place when any changes are proposed by a school, such as our move to offer GCSEs.  The aim is to ensure Kingshott is well prepared and able to make any of the appropriate changes to its educational provision.

May 2022: Kingshott School has been given ‘top marks’ in its latest inspection report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), with the quality of education being rated ‘Excellent’ – the highest grading an independent school can be awarded.

“We are all delighted with the two headline judgements of ‘Excellent’ for ‘pupils’ academic and other achievements’ and for ‘pupils’ personal development,” says Headmaster David Weston.  “It is wonderful to have Kingshott’s educational excellence independently validated, and for all our pupils and staff to have received such well-deserved recognition of their values, achievements and efforts.”

The report was published this week following an in-depth inspection in May 2022 when a team of six ISI inspectors spent four days experiencing life and lessons at Kingshott, meeting with staff, pupils, Governors and the School’s leadership team, as well as analysing data and listening to feedback from parents. The inspection thoroughly reviewed all aspects of Kingshott’s educational provision and is divided into two parts:

  • Firstly, the ‘Regulatory Compliance Inspection’ which reviews the school’s compliance with national regulations in matters such as the welfare, health and safety of pupils – where Kingshott has, as required, successfully ‘met’ all standards.
  • Secondly, the ‘Educational Quality Inspection’ which assesses the quality of the school’s work both academically and pastorally – where Kingshott has been awarded the highest achievement of ‘Excellent’.  The report outlined that pupils “make excellent progress”, “attitudes towards their learning are exceptional”, and that attainment is “above average.”

“There is so much to celebrate in the Education Quality report,” says Kingshott’s Chair of Governors, Dr James Bentall.  “Particularly as our school values successfully shine through in the report. In reading it, I think it adeptly sums up and shows how the Kingshott community - which is focused on being caring and inclusive - encourages children to be confident and ambitious for themselves and each other. We are particularly delighted the inspectors state that pupils “embrace the school culture of kindness readily”, “display outstanding collaborative skills and strong social development” and “are resilient and reflective learners, developing a self-understanding which stands them in good stead for the next stages of their education.”

This accolade comes at the end of an incredibly busy academic year for Kingshott which has seen the school and its pupils further develop and flourish.  “We are very proud of our ‘excellent’ judgement,” concludes Headmaster David Weston.  “As a school that values and encourages ambition, we are continuously looking at ways to make Kingshott even better for all our pupils. So I am confident that next year will see our excellence developed even further across all areas!”
