Kingshott joins Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food!

We are thrilled to announce that our school has successfully been accepted onto Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food '10 Cooking Skills for Life' programme. This is a huge milestone for our Food and Nutrition department, and it means that every student at Kingshott now has a 'golden ticket' to world-class culinary education.

What is the '10 Skills' Programme?
Developed by Jamie Oliver and his team of expert nutritionists, this programme focuses on mastering ten foundational skills, from knife safety and 'the perfect chop' to creating healthy sauces and balanced breakfasts. It’s designed to move students away from processed snacks and toward confident, scratch-cooking.

Cooking beyond the classroom: 24/7 Access
The most exciting part of this partnership is that it doesn't stop when the school bell rings. We have ensured that all students now have full digital access to the programme from home.
By logging into the Ministry of Food portal, students can:

  • Learn Independently: Access step by step video tutorials and interactive guides at their own pace.
  • Cook for the Family: Use Jamie’s tried and tested, budget-friendly recipes to prepare dinner for the household.
  • Track Progress: Complete 'Skill Badges' independently to show off their growing expertise.

Why this is a game-changer
By giving our students the tools to cook independently at home, we are helping them to build true self-reliance. Whether they are preparing a healthy snack after school or helping with the Sunday roast, they are developing habits that will support their physical and financial health for the rest of their lives.

"I am so proud for Kingshott to be accepted and to bring this programme to our school. Accessing these skills from home allows our students to turn their kitchen into a classroom and develop a life-long independence with food." - Mr Lewis, Head of Food & Nutrition
