Languages come to life at Kingshott!

Pupils have been enjoying developing and improving their languages skills this term – both in lessons and during a variety of activities and events aimed to bring languages to life at Kingshott.

So far this term, pupils have enjoyed a European Day of Languages assembly and have had the opportunity to eat a range of different European foods on offer every day at either break or lunch. They have learned a little more about where they originate from - including croissants, pains au chocolat and choux buns (France), paella and tortilla (Spain) and antipasti (Italy).

The highlight so far this term was our ‘Languages Day’, when we welcomed a visiting theatre company to Kingshott.  Pupils in Years 3 to 8 all thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a fun interactive session. The younger year groups loved seeing traditional tales brought to life in French, whilst the Prep School pupils in Years 7 and 8 were challenged with an interactive performance of Les Trois Mousquetaires.

Kingshott’s Head of Modern Foreign Languages, Dr Tristram, says “our aim is to equip children with core language skills, alongside developing a love and an interest in both languages and other cultures. The interactive theatre company certainly brought language to life for all of our children – increasing their vocabulary and, importantly, showcasing how fun language learning can be.”

All pupils benefit from weekly language lessons at Kingshott, from our Early Years all the way through to Year 8.
